This year's theme for GiveBIG was Day of Champions - and our community certainly demonstrated what champions you all are for North Creek Forest. Since this was our first time participating in GiveBIG, we set a fairly modest monetary goal of $2500, and a more aggressive recruitment goal of 25 new donors. We were thrilled to meet our recruitment goal and exceed our monetary goal! And we didn't just exceed our monetary goal,
The plants are looking a lot more green this week and some of them are even starting to bloom! Remember to check out our Facebook page and stop by next week for another weekly plant update.
Here is a little info about one of the plants that has been used extensively in this year's restoration site.
Come take a look at how our plants have grown since last week. Make sure to subscribe to our Facebook page to get the latest news and come back next Friday for another Weekly Plant Update.
Where will the forest lead you?
What do you value about North Creek Forest? Is it the understanding it helps us develop about ecosystems? The resilience that we see demonstrated by the plants and animals that live there? The curiosity it inspires and the perspective it brings? Maybe it is the solitude you find on an early morning walk, or the community feeling of an educational field trip or a forest stewardship work party? Where ever the forest leads you, we hope that you will help us protect and steward it by participating in GiveBIG on May 5. GiveBIG is our region’s largest one-day online charitable giving event where a portion of every gift will be matched by the Seattle Foundation. Never given to Friends of North Creek Forest before? Donations in any amount from new contributors to FNCF will be stretched even more by a challenge fund. If we receive at least 25 new donors on May 5, we will receive an additional $1250 – that’s an extra $50 for each new donor! Help us reach our one day goal of $2500 and 25 new donors on May 5, 2015. Your gifts go further on May 5. Join us to GiveBIG for North Creek Forest. Bookmark our GiveBIG Donation page (donations must be made through this page to count towards GiveBIG), and mark your calendar to GiveBIG on May 5! Thank you for your support. These were all recently planted during this year's restoration. We'll be adding new photos regularly here and on our Facebook page. Come back every week to see how our plants have grown. Here is what you can do now to help us have a successful campaign:
We hope you can join us on May 5 to GiveBIG for North Creek Forest! So far, our efforts have resulted in three Land and Water grants, three King County Conservation Futures grants, and one Snohomish County Conservation Futures grant to purchase North Creek Forest for the citizens of Bothell. We are almost there! The final grant to complete the purchase, from the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) awaits state funding. |
